Virtual Venice
St. Mark's Cathedral Digital Reconstruction
In collaboration with art history professor Ludovico Geymonat and several other colleagues, I have been working toward a digital twin of St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice.
Based on his hypothesis that a series of statues now residing around the world originated in Venice as a set of Biblical scenes, we are using LiDAR and photogrammetry to scan the statues and place them within a model of the cathedral. For pre-visualization I generated appropriate material textures for the cathedral using AI image generation, as seen in the sample above.
