Creating Simulations for Off-World
Construction Methods and Workforce Training

In 2023 I served on LSU's Expert Panel on Off-World Construction, a meeting of international experts in Engineering, AR/VR/XR tools, Construction Management, and industry partners, including ICON, who is partnering with NASA to develop 3D printed architecture for the moon, as seen in the video above.

Subsequently, I received a "Big Ideas Grant" in collaboration with faculty in the Department of Construction Management to develop methods for robot-human collaboration on off-world construction, and enable exploration of off-world environments with a variety of characteristics including low or micro gravity, low or no moisture, high granular dust environments, etc.

The project title is: "Center of Human-Robot Collaboration Workforce Development: Future-Ready Workforce for Off-World Construction - Big Ideas Program 2024"

These faculty regularly participate in research related to advanced materials and workforce development for aerospace:

Our next steps are to continue to adapt LSU's Digital Twin capabilities for suitability in off-world construction simulation and workforce training, and add procedural, physically accurate virtual environments for the Moon, Mars, and beyond. This is an early stage, ongoing project, check back for more updates.
